Halo Ballycastle
The Rosspark Hotel. Kells, County Antrim

May 2009

Ballycastle is a small rural seaside town placed on the most north-easterly tip
of county Antrim, Northern Ireland surrounded with breath-taking beauty and
steeped in cultural history.
Ballycastle is best known for the 'Ould Lammas Fair', probably the largest of
its kind in Ireland.
It is here that our latest project, Halo, is located.
Way back in 2002 Paul McAuley called to our office, he had seen a recent venue that
we had been involved with and found where we were based.
He explained that he was a publican from Ballycastle and that he had bought a former
Hotel premises “The Royal” that was next door to his pub and that he intended
renovating and extending the site to open a nightclub.
To say the least technicalities and “red tape” meant that Paul, his architect Norman
Perry had a uphill struggle to get the project going, but finally on Saturday 23rd May
2009 Halo opened to the public.
The venue consists of a Bar to the front and 2 separate clubs at the rear (One ground
floor, and one first floor.)
Paul’s brief was simple, as there were no other venues in the locality he wanted a
dance club that he felt would be a great success in the locality and he has been 100%
on that one!
