December 2007 The market town of Granard is located in the midlands of Ireland in County Longford. Here you will find Kanes Bar on the main street. Pauric Kane, a local entrepreneur decided to extend the first floor of his latest business venture and provide a modern venue for the younger clients of the traditional bars in the town. As usual time was of the essence to have the venue up and running before Christmas so Pauric approached EL&D to design the venue and install the audio and mood lighting systems. In keeping with the client’s brief EL&D designed a multipurpose room that could be used for anything from “A night at the races” to a 21st birthday party, using a combination of hard wearing finishes to provide not only a great looking venue but also a long lasting one. The audio system again had to be flexible allowing the patrons to be able to listen to audio from the Plasma & LCD screens or to be able to plug a DJ console. Provision has also been made for live music to be played through the system. The same flexibility has been provided with the mood lighting in the venue, using discreet RGB lighting concealed in opes in the ceiling static colours can be used during normal use and being RGB any colour can be produced, at nights the ceiling is transformed in a colour changing pulsating mix to match the music being played at the touch of a button. A dimmer system allows a total change to the venue with selection of 5 preset scenes of the 16 lighting channels again by a simple one button press. |
